There’s a Native American proverb that says, “Those who tell the stories rule the world.” But sometimes those telling the stories overlook or drown out voices not often heard in conversations in public health, power, and community decision-making.

The Art of Resistance: Exploring Race, Health Inequities and Public Health Through Storytelling Conference is the annual storytelling workshop of Assisi House, Inc., that uses the power of community storytelling to improve well-being.  The goal of this one day workshop is to expose participants to the various types of storytelling for healing and self-advocacy around health such as movement, music, visual art, and writing. Participants also have the opportunity to speak with local activists, policymakers, and members of the faith community.
